I studied biotechnology at the Mannheim University of Applied Sciences and graduated as a Dipl.-Ing.(FH). I then did my doctorate (Dr. sc. hum.) at the University of Heidelberg (Medical Faculty Mannheim).

Since 2005 I have been working as a scientist at the Clinic for Anaesthesiology at the University Medical Center Göttingen. I develop software for data acquisition, data analysis and image processing of medical images (computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, electrical impedance tomography).

I've been programming with NI LabVIEW for ~27 years. I started with LabVIEW 3, and I am still an enthusiastic LabVIEW programmer :-).
I have been working with deep learning for 2 years, especially in the field of automatic segmentation of organs in medical images. e.g.:
